Area 51, music and an apology.

So hi, it’s been a while hasn’t it?

I apologise to anyone that likes my work*, whether music or writing, it has to be frustrating for you to have to wait to see what I do next and when.

Imagine then being inside my bonce? It is like a torrent of half-formed ideas and plans washing me away screaming and only barely able to get through the day without resorting to swearing at traffic on street corners.

Anyway, Area 51 is a piece of music that I wrote for my friend, Rob Reed’s online birthday celebration. He hosted a collaborative and creative online event, and he has some very talented friends, and I was going to make a Wobbly Bob video for it. Due to unforeseen events I did not really have the time to make one, they are quite time-consuming affairs to say the least. Instead, I decided to do something completely different and make a music video.

It is based on the name of Rob’s event, not that it is to do with his age or anything, and I ran with it. The downside to all of this is that my YouTube search is now full of bloody UFO conspiracy theory bollocks. The truth is not out there, but billions of hours of grainy footage is.

This track is inspired by my current love of IDM music, particularly Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Autechre and Nightmares on Wax.

I made the track over a couple of afternoons, and then made the video using an interesting piece of software called Hydra, a live coding visualiser. I then added this to free stock video footage using Davinci Resolve (Also free, can you see a theme here? Yes, I am skint.)

I hope you like it, it is best enjoyed through headphones or good stereo speakers. You won’t get the most from it playing it out of your phone speakers on the bus, and you may also get slapped for doing so.

Here are the linky lonks for the YouTube video, and the slightly higher quality audio copy on SoundCloud.

More stuff coming along eventually. Probably.

*You poor thing, have you considered getting help?
