Bio

Trevor is a sometime speaker, writer, improviser or panicked shouter of comedy. The man & the hand behind Wobbly Bob.

These two facts are almost certainly connected.

He also sometimes contributed to the Twitter account @Visit_Wakefield.

‘Britain’s tallest ninja and as funny as fuck’ Paul ‘Silky’ White.

This blog is the work of a fevered mind, that being the one of Trevor Ship. Writing with a love of British sketch comedy, with a side order of absurdity and surrealism, and infrequently some actual facts.

Having written jokes for stand up comedians, NewsJack, Huddlines, Week Ending and The Jack Docherty show on Channel 5, Trevor is now at the edge of a seam of hilariously odd comedy. He has previously also been half of the creative team behind the then cutting edge podcast ‘The North South Divide.”

Also flirting with stand up and live comedy improv Trevor is ready for his latest challenge. Actual grown up writing!

He is now working on several short stories/novellas and has a twisted and convoluted plan for a crime drama with a dark sense of humour.

On top of that he is using his experience of funny writing and twenty years plus in the driver training and assessment industries to create a SubStack account to try and help people become better and safer drivers.

With influences encompassing The Goodies, Kenny Everett and Reeves & Mortimer, the unselfconsciously silly, offbeat and absurd nature of these quintessentially British comedy greats have percolated through all of Trevor’s work. Trevor’s love of audio and written comedy is evident in every fibre of his work, vibrant with life, love and confusion.

Trevor had been concentrating on the puppet Wobbly Bob YouTube channel, whose scathing and sarcastic wit was a foil to the saccharine sweet image of puppets on children’s TV. Wobbly Bob is not for children. While Bob is on a low heat back burner, he will almost certainly reappear at some point. You cannot keep a good puppet down, and a bad one? Who knows.

‘I see a piece of Lego and think of his brilliant twitter comment and I laugh out loud – he’s a very funny guy.’ Phil Turner

Phil means this one: (I am not Twitter anymore due to Elon Musk so here it is on BlueSky.)
