Satirists say ‘Just stop it now please.’

A spokesperson for the union of Satirists (SATIRE – Satirists Against The Imposition of a Reality Explosion) today asked politicians and social media users to just stop it.

Randy King, the USA leader of SATIRE said “Look, we make our living by saying things that seem too far fetched to be real, we take a real story and pillory it and by changing some of the details to make it beyond the truth. We simply cannot do that anymore, every time one of us writes something that is seemingly too far fetched some idiot politician, or uninformed uncle on Facebook, says something that means we have to go back to the drawing board.’

The UK Editor of satirical website Chunky Mango echoed the comments, saying ‘There is almost no point us bothering now, we may as well give up and post memes on Twitter. Is there a career path in that? Stealing other people’s content I mean? Works well enough for Comment deleted by lawyers.’
