RETRODAVE!!! Answers your retro gaming questions – ON THE INTERNET!

Hi, I am RetroDave!!! Yes, the exclamation marks are part of my name as I am so wacky and kerrazy.

I love gaming and particularly retro gaming, beware as I have strong opinions and as a gatekeeper of all things video gaming you should heed my warnings well weary traveller. Shall we pop into the tavern of your favourite RPG and purchase a flagon of the frothiest ale and get on with answering your questions?

Stuart Burnside asks on Twitter – “How many times is it acceptable to reload the same save?”

I think that this is a particularly thorny question to start with, should games, REAL games I mean, have the ability to save? If you cannot commit 8 plus hours to play in one sitting are you able to call yourself a gamer?

I know that there has been a lot of talk lately in the gaming Twitter sphere about difficulty levels and accessibility. Well, here’s my two pennorth, just get better at the game. If you cannot do it without saving or changing the difficulty level maybe crocheting is more for you, hmm?

By the way, please like and subscribe to my gaming podcast where I talk at great length about my opinions and how they are better than yours.

When I started playing games there were no difficulty levels, there were no game saves. If you want to game properly you should do it the way that I do, on a Dragon 64. Admittedly there were not that many games made for it, but that just means that you have more time to give to the ones that you do have. No emulation mind, emulation is for casual gamers and they are worse than. Well, Electronic Arts.

Glad we got that sorted. Now before I return to Pyramid of Doom on my Dragon 64 I have time for another question. This one is also from Stuart Burnside, alright Stuart way to monopolise my time. There are plenty of other people that need putting right on the internet.

He asks; How do I explain to my partner that I am playing an entirely different game from yesterday, despite it looking like I’m staring at the same map of Europe?

This is a tricky one for me to say, but I am probably not the best person to ask questions about relationships. I was in a long term relationship until recently, well long term for me certainly. We are no longer together as she kept making unreasonable demands, like telling me to turn my Dragon 64 off so that she could charge her iPad so she could Facetime her sick mother.

Selfish or what? In my opinion, partners simply do not understand retro gaming and how much time you have to put into it. She recently left me and went back home to look after her mother. She is now going out with her Mother’s Doctor, who she tells me is very attractive and attentive.

Well, who’s the sad one? I have all of the time in the world to play through my copy of Cassette 50!

You wish you were as cool as me, don’t forget you can pop on over to my Twitch stream later where I will be streaming live from my living room as I play through the games, you would not want to miss that.

My followers are many and varied. Well, there are three and they are all also called Dave.

Definitely not sock puppet accounts though.
