25 Funny tweets?

A few days ago one of my tweets was featured in The Poke’s “Simply 25 great Tweets the past week”.

I have had a few things in there before now and then, and I think it might be worth briefly recording what happens when you get a semi popular tweet. (Note: I did not say viral as I do not think that is for the person making the tweet to say. It’s like people who describe themselves in glowing terms, it’s a bit, well you know, odd.)

Firstly I must thank @glennyrodge, who retweeted my tweet and this brought it to a much wider audience. I am always appreciative of people with larger accounts helping out in this way.

In the process my tweet got quite a few likes and retweets and gained a bit of traction, all good stuff. I don’t make a living from this comedy lark, but it is nice to get things out there and appreciated. The next day I was included in The Poke article, all good stuff, even more people seeing my joke. great. I got quite a few more likes and retweets, and even some interaction from some people. All positive I might add, for people that call Twitter a hell site.

What I find interesting is that it barely generated any new followers for the @chunky_mango account, I got some of my other tweets liked and RT’d and some hits on this blog from it, so this is not a complaint. I certainly got my moneys’ worth out of it, I suppose to generate more followers I will have to try and generate that sort of response on a more regular basis. It is oddly amusing to me that fleetingly lot’s of people stopped by my account and had a laugh and then moved on, So what does it all mean?

I suppose what it all means is, if you like someone’s work please like and share it. More importantly though is to interact with them and tell them that you like it. Creative people are still people, we like to know that people enjoy what we are doing.

Thank you for your attention, this was a briefly serious post. I will endeavour to not allow that to happen again.
